DSQUARED’s Spring Summer 2016 is a surf and couture explosion. Mix some neoprene, tropical prints, wetsuits, tulle and cut outs and you get the 2016 DSQUARED woman.
She is athletic and tough but still feminine and flirty. She rides the perfect set of waves by day, and is glammed up for the party of the season by night. Black neoprene with tropical prints of waves, flowers and birds – with sequin and bead detailing is what the DSQUARED lady is all about. Taking surf chic into the night. How? by turning that neoprene into high waist pants, dresses and tops fitted with oversized plastic zippers to top it all off. The colour palette also follows the surf feel by using electric blue acid pink and black to chiffon skirts, printed bodysuits and metallic chainmail tops.
Scuba zippers in leather or with inserts are major details on short lustrous dresses. To add edge to the feminine colour palette , bondage style emphases in cords and harnesses were added to some of the pieces. You can’t have a surf inspired collection without a bit of tie-dye or iconic Hawaiian prints. Parrots and flowers were pushed up a notch by being beaded in 3D on tuxedo and short jackets. The surf stimulus was seen all the way down to the shoes.
Platform sandals wrap up the ankle with cord laces. Velcro attachments decorated neoprene ankle straps. Even the soles look like lacquered lines of a surfboard. Jewellery also followed suit in flower Plexiglas necklaces and rainbow hued earrings.
